A new hospital¡ªGongmingHospital that does not charge patients until after their affliction is cured opened on Mar.09, 2004 in the capital of Northeast China¡¯s HeilongjiangProvince. Gongming Hospital, founded by Hong Kong ¨Cbased Gongming Medical Management Company Ltd, offers therapies for ¡°difficult¡± diseases such as chronic hepatitis, especially hepatitis B.
Patients are required to sign a contract with the hospital and after that, submit the contract and the costs to an insurance company for notarization. If the treatments are successful, the hospital will be paid by the insurer. Otherwise, the hospital will receive nothing and the patients will be refunded by the insurer. The contract is described as protecting patients¡¯ interests and minimizing their risks.
It provides one-stop services and an environment it claims are modeled on five-star hotels. They set up an e-case history for patients and provide lifetime health advice.
Sheng Zhenming, the founder of the hospital, said hepatitis viruses can be blocked from human DNA by penetrating and activating medicines. He said he believed the medicines can treat hepatitis patients successfully.
